About The Studio
My name is Brian Schade. I am a member of the National Association of Photoshop professionals (NAPP) and I am the founder, owner, and chief photography officer (CPO) of Thunder Mountain Imagery, LLC. I started this business as a method to support my habit hobby and build upon my skills as a photographer. The plan is to ultimately build a studio that can create any type of image that customers (such as yourself) can imagine. From standard portraits of yourself, your family, or your pets to complex imagery projects and image restoration, Thunder Mountain Imagery is your answer.
Thunder Mountain Imagery is a brand-new photography studio based is sunny Sierra Vista, Arizona. It is the aim of this studio to become the premiere photography studio of Cochise County. Offering services in event photography (parties, business functions, engagements and small weddings), portraits (including family, individual, and maternity), and scenery & nature, and using tools from standard photography equipment to digital manipulation software, I believe Thunder Mountain Imagery can meet that goal and then some.
About The Owner
I am a born-and-bread native Arizonan, having lived in different parts of southern Arizona all my life. I was born in Safford and grew up in both Sierra Vista and Tucson. I graduated from high school in 1987. My educational carrer floundered for a few years after that, including a couple of failed attempts to attend the University of Arizona; trying to find my own personal purpose in life. Eventually I landed back in Sierra Vista where I successfully pursued an Associate degree from Cochise College in Computer Information Systems. This led to a pretty decent 15-plus-year career in the Information Technology field. In time, I also earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems, as well as my Master of Science in Computer Information Systems.
During my time of "self discovery" (read as "slothfulness"), I had a chance to take a photography class at the University of Arizona. I was intrigued by what could be done with film, and was exposed to the works of famous photographers such as Ansel Adams, Annie Liebovitz, and others.
I was most intrigued by photogrphers that specialized in visual effect. After seeing what could be done with imagery, even in the darkroom, I was inspired to to create images beyond that which could be captured with a mere camera. Unfortunately, darkroom manipulation proved to be too time consuming for my "need it now" personality, and I abandoned serious pursuit of the art, relegating it to the level of hobby. With the advent of digital imaging technology, I have once again been able to unleash the creative within me, and now find myself persuing what I believe to be my Soul Purpose.
Equipment Used
Currently I use a Canon EOS 7D with Canon EF 24-70mm f/1:2.8 and Canon EF 70-200mm f/1:4 L-series lenses. I try to use natural lighting as much as possible, but for those compositions which require more control I use Canon Speedlites as well as studio equipment from Westcott, Manfrotto and Backdrop Alley. For post processing, my primary tools are Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3.
About Sierra Vista
Located 70 miles southeast of Tucson, this thriving community of nearly 43,000 is the regional center of southeastern Arizona and the home of historic Fort Huachuca. The City of Sierra Vista is the youngest of the major communities of Cochise County, but its history is rooted in the early settlement of Arizona by its connection with Fort Huachuca. Sierra Vista has grown from a satellite community dependent on the fort to one which has a vigorous life of its own. Constantly expanding modern shopping and recreational opportunities attract birders and nature lovers from all over the county (source: Discover Arizona).
Several mountain ranges surround the City of Sierra Vista. The city\'s name, which means Mountain View in Spanish, describes its location perfectly. At an elevation of 4,623 feet, the city boasts a view of the Mule, Dragoon, Whetstone and Huachuca Mountains. As the population nears 43,000, Sierra Vista is one of the fastest growing communities in Arizona and is the business and cultural center of Cochise County. The city annexed Fort Huachuca into its boundaries in 1971. The two communities hold a strong working relationship and share many facilities and joint activities (source: Wikipedia).
